OXVA Origin SE Kit

The OXVA Origin SE is a pocket-sized device, only 10 cm tall, 3 cm broad, and 60 grams (with pod fitted). The Origin has a built-in 1400mAh battery and can produce up to 40W of power, which helps it produce a lot of vapour. With this battery, you may vape comfortably all day long. Recharging is also quick, as the type-c charging cable provides up to 80% charge in just 30 minutes. The Origin is a dual-activated gadget that lets you vape using an auto-draw or button draw. The same button lets you switch between the device's power settings and turn it on and off.

The OXVA Origin SE uses the well-known OXVA unicoils, which have a bottom adaptor to control airflow, and includes a pod with a 2ml e-liquid capacity. The 0.3 Ohm Unicoil is already fitted in the pod that comes with the kit, and you also get a spare 0.5 Ohm Unicoil in the package. You can alternate between a mouth-to-lung (MTL) and a restricted direct-to-lung (RDTL) vaping technique using these coils. Because the Origin pods are magnetic, they may be easily put into the kit. Additionally, each pod features a 510 drip tip that can be exchanged for any other 510 connecting drip tip.

Specifications:

Inside the little presentation box you get the Origin SE itself with a 0.3ohm UniCoil installed, a second 0.5ohm UniCoil, a small user leaflet, and a USB-C charge cable. First impressions out of the box are that this is really lightweight thanks to that polycarbonate construction, even with a coil installed and a full tank of e-liquid, it still only tips the scales at 53 grams making it the most pocketable Origin yet.

The OXVA has a great finish that gives it a smooth appearance, with a metal-like appearance yet a plastic housing. The back of the kit includes engraved lines that improve its aesthetics while also perhaps increasing your grip on it. The OXVA logo is tastefully positioned on the side of the kit, which is a good touch. However, the ergonomics of the Origin design must be its best feature. No matter how you hold it, it fits your hand incredibly well and is incredibly comfortable. Although the front button is rather simple, it serves its purpose, and the kit's LED lights are discrete enough, so as to not annoy you when vaping.

The Origin SE reduces the size of the Origin's original teardrop form while also streamlining the controls with an autodraw mechanism and a one button operation. I enjoy the subtle branding present here, and the prominent ridges running down the spine of the battery portion provide some much-needed grip. The pod is located on top and extends over the main body, making it simple to see the amount of your e-liquid. The USB-C charging port is located at the bottom.

Press the firing button five times quickly to turn on the Origin SE. You can always select how you want to vape with the Origin SE because both auto-draw and manual draw are supported. Although auto-drawing is effective, you must draw forcefully to score a hit. I prefer utilizing the firing button since I feel like I receive a better, stronger hit and don't have to exert as much effort pulling it.

If you want to stop the Origin SE from firing, it also has a lock feature. That can be turned on and off by pressing the firing button four times quickly.

You can choose between the low, medium, and high power settings by rapidly pushing the firing button three times. I think the power levels work pretty well because I've discovered that each power level has a sufficient wattage variation between them to be really visible.

Your current mode is indicated by the LEDs on the front panel. Three lights are high, medium, and low, respectively. Depending on the coil you select, each power level automatically adjusts to a particular power output.

0.3 Ohm coil

  • Low = 30 watts
  • Medium = 35 watts
  • High = 40 watts

0.5 Ohm coil

  • Low = 16 watts
  • Medium = 21 watts
  • High = 25 watts

1.0 Ohm coil

  • Low = 8 watts
  • Medium = 11 watts
  • High = 14 watts

The pod comes with a 3.5 ml capacity or 2ml for TPD regulations. The round mouthpiece at the top is a 510 tip and is removable, so you can use another tip here, too, if you want.

The liquid fill port is on the back of the pod and uses a rubber seal. You need to take the pod out of the device to fill it up.

The Origin SE uses OXVA’s Unicoil series of coils. These come in either 0.3 Ohm, 0.5 Ohm, or 1.0 Ohm resistance.

0.3 Ohm – This coil is rated for 30-40 watts, so it’s going to be best for low nicotine and big hits. I’m getting huge hits and lots of flavor. I’ve been vaping Peach Pear, which is my favorite flavor from the BLVK Hundred line, and the flavor is excellent. I feel like I’m really getting everything out of it.

0.5 Ohm – This coil is rated for 20-25 watts, so it’s still going to work best for low nicotine and big hits. The hits aren’t as big as the 0.3 Ohm coil, but they’re still big and also a lot more efficient. I’ve found my tank staying full for a long time, even when chain vaping this coil. The flavor production is really good too.

0.1 Ohm – This coil is rated for 10-15 watts, so this would be better for higher nicotine and probably tight-draw hits. This is also a Kanthal coil rather than a mesh coil, so the flavor is probably not as good as the other coils. They didn’t send me one of these to test, so I can’t tell you these things for sure.

I honestly really enjoy how the airflow adjustment rings are integrated into these coils.

Although it is useful, airflow control is sometimes not very effective in other pod devices of a similar nature. Although it is a little less convenient, having the airflow ring on the coil is significantly more effective.

Furthermore, using it is really not that challenging. Simply remove the pod and transfer it. The airflow ring also performs admirably. When the airflow is wide open, you get a lot of airflow for powerful hits; when it's only partially open, the draw is restricted; and when it's just a little open, you may get some decent tight-draw mouth-to-lung hits. The efficiency with which this handles MTL and Lung Hits.

The airflow is adjusted on the coil rather than the device itself. I wasn’t too keen on this feature as you have to remove the tank to access it. It also makes it harder to auto draw so you have to use the button instead. However, this technique does prevent the airflow from accidentally being changed in your pocket. So, I can understand why it was built this way.

I was most impressed by the battery life of the Origin SE. The internal battery inside the OXVA is a 1400mAh battery, the power lasts for ages That’s a good-sized battery for a pod device and especially for a device this small. It charges using USB-C with 5v/2a charging, so you can get it charged up to 80% in just 30 minutes. It doesn’t take much longer to fully charge.

For the most part, I thought the OXVA Origin SE was relatively straightforward to use and I enjoyed the variety of options available. It was impressive how much power was behind such a petite device.

The LEDs on the front panel display different colors depending on the charge of the battery. Green lights mean it’s above 65% charge, blue is 30-65%, and red means it’s below 30% charge.

The Origin SE has a built-in 1400mAh battery and is capable of up to 40W, this would usually mean that battery life is fairly diminished compared to most pod kits that often have around 900mAh batteries but only fire up to 25W. Therefore I expected the battery life to be average at best, but I was very wrong. I was comfortably vaping at 40W for a day and didn’t need to recharge, with the kit showing no sign of diminishing flavour or vapour production.

As always with vape kits and built-in batteries, the battery life is dependent on your usage. If you are vaping every 15 to 20 minutes at this wattage, I very much doubt you’ll get a full day vaping. However, for moderate users the battery life is more than sufficient on the Origin.

The Origin SE has a plastic body that comes in lots of different colors; Gradient Gold, Gradient Green, Gradient Blue, Magenta Pink, Tiffany Pink, Tiffany Blue, Sakura Pink, Silver Gray, and Matte Black

In Conclusion, I really like the simplified control scheme which I think is ideal for beginners, and that slightly restricted airflow seems to be perfectly matched to the UniCoil system. I might even go as far as saying this is possibly my favourite Origin kit yet.

The Origin SE has impressed me. For such a small device to have a nice sized battery at 1400mah and be packed with functions is really nice. It’s small enough that I was able to comfortably carry it in my front shirt pocket at work. The “Small body, Big Cloud” logo is definitely correct.

The Origin SE is a really good pod system. It’s super light, the flavor production is excellent, the airflow adjustment works great, it has basic adjustable wattage settings, and it just performs really well. And the coils are great too. I’ve been chain vaping, and there’s no slow-down in how these perform – no dry hits and always great flavor. The plastic body of the Origin SE feels a little cheap, so that’s a drawback, but that also makes it so light, and it doesn’t impact the performance, so other than that, I really don’t have anything to complain about.
