OXVA Origin 2 Pod Kit

Oxva Origin 2 80W Pod Kit – Lightweight, Powerful, and Stylish for Unmatched Performance

OXVA have refreshed their Origin pod kit with the newly released Origin 2 kit. This mixes elements from the original with a few twists taken from their more recent UniOne system to bring us a more modern take on their signature pod kit. This single 18650 unit is easy to use and smaller than anticipated. It has rapid type C charging.

This version is all about stunning design and compatibility.

Starting from the top of the device you have the magnetic ring which holds the pod in tightly. Under you have the cyclops airflow ring which works by simply twisting the pod around to find your required airflow restriction. On the front of the device you have a 0.69in oled screen. It shows the usual wattage, voltage, Ohms of coil, battery bar, Puff counter and your padlock to show where the device is locked or unlocked.

The device has no menu system meaning its a very basic simple to use kit. Also on the front is the round fire button, up and down buttons and type C charging port.

When comparing Origin X and Origin 2, it is clear that OXVA has retained some of the design cues, such as the small teardrop shape, while updating the system with a metal chassis and a UniOne Cartridge (tank) with fully adjustable airflow built into the section where the tank sits.

The back of the Origin 2 now sports a patterned “leather” grip with stitching for improved grip and comfort. The zinc alloy chassis means that the Origin 2 has gained a bit of weight though coming in at 127 grams and 174 grams with a battery installed.

There’s still only a monochrome screen nestled between the controls but this is more than sufficient for the job at hand. As before this is a wattage only device but now features a much more conventional three button layout with nicely textured metal buttons with great tactile feedback and zero button rattle. The change in the control scheme makes it much easier to operate

The Origin 2 is powered by a single 18650 battery with a screw in battery cap at the base. There is on board charging via a USB-C charge port on the control panel, a quick charge test showed a 1.7amp charge rate so if you need to use this in a pinch you should be back up and running in no time.

There is a USB Type C port for fast charging at a 2A rate and the output is specified as 5-80W. You can adjust the wattage and there also seems to be an “intelligent-match system” according to the instructions, which I think is a kind of smart mode – where the device automatically sets the output limits for the coil.

The device as mentioned is powered by a single 18650, you will find the battery cap on the bottom of the device its a screw type cap which doesn’t bother me but I know its not popular with all vapers. You simply flick the tab up and unscrew or use a coin in the slot and turn it un do the battery cap. Inside is marked clearly with a possitive sign. It’s a secure cap and I’ve had no problems with battery rattle or it not connecting properly.

The new UniOne Cartridge fits into the recess at the top of the Origin 2 and is secured by magnets and the airflow is controlled by twisting the tank. Whilst this is secure enough that the pod isn’t going to fall out if you’re the sort of person who tends to fidget with things then you might find yourself accidentally adjusting the airflow and I’ve done this myself several times.

The pod base features the fill port and has a magnetic connection to the mod. In standard form the capacity is 5ml however for TPD regulated areas this is reduced to 2ml. It has a removable 510 wide bore drip tip.

The coil is a simple push in type coil, it will fit in anyway and to replace the simply pull the old coil out and replace it. Either side of the coil hole you have 2 magnets which connect firmly into the top of the device with no wiggle. To change the airflow on the device you simply twist the pod and it changes the airflow on the cyclop holes. When removing the pod to refill you will have to adjust the airflow back as the pod may not go back in the same way. Rotate the pod in the mod body to adjust the incoming airflow!

You can also use the tank section from the UniOne PnM tank in the Origin 2 which gives you access to the UniPlus series coils. I’d treat this as a bonus feature though because as far as I can see the only way to get this is to buy the whole UniOne PnM tank and I was only able to test this as I had one to hand already. For all you nickel sensitives out there the full tangle of coils are Kanthal and performance from the coils is just as good as it’s always been.

The UniOne Cartridge with removable 510 drip tip looks very similar to the UniOne PnM tank right except this is now constructed from PCTG (plastic) rather than glass. The fill port is still in the same awkward location next to the base of the press fit coil but at least the fill port is a little bigger this time around!

There are 6 colour options to choose from: SS, Gunmetal (under review), Black, Turquoise Green (under review), Sunset Blue and Black Red.

In conclusion, A great update to the Origin series, the Origin 2 hasn’t disappointed and it’s great to see OXVA continuing to use the UniCoil series across a range of devices. The pack in’s are a little disappointing though and if you intend using any of the coils other than the 0.2 ohm one you’ll need to remember to order that UniCoil AFC as well.

But those concerns aside what a brilliant kit. The power you get with the 0.2ohm coil would make you think this was a dual battery mod with a huge sub ohm tank on the top! It is surprisingly forceful! The heat you get from that coil coupled with the epic vapour and flavour really blew me away.
